Cary Joji Fukunaga (2011) UK, 2h, PG
Adapted from the novel ‘Jane Eyre’ by Charlotte Brontë

“I would always rather be happy than dignified.”

A book which has itself provided many cinematic adaptations, though this most recent, starring Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender is definitely up there.

After a bleak childhood, Jane Eyre goes out into the world to work as a governess at Thornfield Hall for the cold, abrupt master of the house, Mr. Rochester. Jane and her employer grow close but could Mr. Rochester’s terrible secret be about to destroy her happiness forever?
